Now that you’re acquainted with the health benefits of pumpkin, let’s embark on a journey through our straightforward ingredients in one of our favorite pumpkin recipes, combining the wholesome charm of pumpkin with the delectable essence of the fall season.
What You Will Need For 3-Ingredient Pumpkin Mousse:
Tools:
- Large bowl
- Small bowl
- Stand Mixer
- Rubber Spatula
Main Components:
- Pumpkin PurĂ©e: The heart of any pumpkin mousse recipe is, of course, the pumpkin purĂ©e. It’s what gives the dessert its signature flavor of the fall season.
- Cream Cheese: Cream cheese adds a rich and creamy texture to the mousse while complementing the pumpkin pie spice.
- Heavy Cream: To achieve that fluffy and airy dessert texture, you’ll need heavy cream to whip up until you get stiff peaks.
Our Fabulous 3-Ingredient Pumpkin Mousse Recipe:
Ingredients:
- 15oz (one can) Pumpkin Purée
- 8oz Cream Cheese
- 3 cups Heavy Cream (2c for the mousse, 1c for whipped cream topping)
- 1 Tbsp Pumpkin Pie Spice
- 1/3 cup Maple Syrup
Step 1: Making the Pumpkin Mixture
- In a large bowl (we like to use our stand mixer), combine one can of pumpkin purée with one tbsp of pumpkin pie spice. This combination of cinnamon and nutmeg is what will give your mousse that iconic fall flavor.
- Add the maple syrup, saving about a tablespoon for the whipped cream topping.
Step 2: Creamy Filling
- In a separate small bowl, or stand mixer with the whisk attachment, whip the cream cheese until it’s smooth and creamy. Gradually mix it into the pumpkin mixture, blending until fully incorporated.
Step 3: Whipping the Cream
- In another bowl, whip 2 cups heavy cream until it forms stiff peaks. This step is what gives your mousse its fluffy texture. Expert tip: Use an electric mixer on medium-high speed for quicker results. (We love our stand mixer for this!)
Step 4: Combining the Ingredients
- Gently fold the whipped cream into the pumpkin mixture. Use a rubber spatula to maintain the airy texture.
- After adding the whipped cream to the pumpkin/cream cheese mixture, you can go back and whip the rest of the cream for the topping. Add the remaining maple syrup you saved to make it extra yummy!
Step 5: Chilling
- Transfer the pumpkin mousse into individual glasses or a 2-quart dish for a nice presentation. Top with whipped cream and dust with pumpkin pie spice. Cover with plastic wrap and chill in the fridge for a few hours until the mousse sets.
Optional Extras:
For some extra sweetness, you can add a drizzle of maple syrup to each serving. If you’re watching your sugar intake, use a sugar substitute like monk fruit to keep it low carb.
Variations: For a twist, replace the heavy cream with coconut cream and use a sugar substitute. We find that maple syrup is the best with pumpkin flavor. This will give you a dairy-free pumpkin mousse that’s just as delicious.
For those who enjoy a hint of chocolate, you can sprinkle some chocolate shavings on top of this easy pumpkin mousse before serving. It’s one of the many delicious ways to enjoy this dessert.
Conclusion:
This 3-ingredient pumpkin mousse is the perfect dessert to celebrate the fall season and impress your family and friends. Its simplicity, combined with the delightful taste of home-baked pumpkin pie, makes it an ideal treat for Thanksgiving dinner or any time of year when you’re in the mood for a sweet, fluffy mousse.
